On TalentProof, verification is a recorded status on a specific piece of evidence — such as a project, internship, work experience, or skill — after a review or an assessment. It is not a single “verified student” flag, and it is not applied automatically.
What does verification mean?
Verification means the platform stores a decision or assessment outcome against that evidence. Typical statuses include pending, verified, rejected, flagged, or expired, depending on the flow. Self-entered claims stay claims until that status is recorded.
What can be verified?
TalentProof verification applies to evidence items, not to the whole profile as one badge. Confirmed types include:
- Projects — including college projects, which can be faculty-verified.
- Internships — reviewed by a workplace supervisor and, separately, by the student’s institution.
- Work experience — the same supervisor and institution review pattern as internships.
- Skills — a skill can move from declared or claimed to verified after the student passes a skill assessment. That is not the same as an institution signing off the skill.
Who verifies the evidence?
Who acts depends on the evidence type:
- Workplace supervisors verify internships and work experience through an email review (not an automatic check).
- Faculty verify college projects, also through a review (including an email token flow).
- Institutions (placement staff) can approve, decline, or mark internships for review after the student has requested that review and completed the related assessment.
- Skill assessments record skill verification when the student passes. There is no separate “institution verifies this skill” step in that flow.
How verification works
There is more than one flow, but the sequence is consistent:
- The student adds the project, internship, work experience, or skill to their profile.
- Where the product supports it, they request a review (supervisor, faculty, or institution) or take a skill assessment.
- The reviewer records a decision, or the assessment records a result.
- The item’s status updates. It can later change — for example if a token expires, a supervisor rejects or flags the record, or an institution declines it.
What happens after verification?
The evidence item’s status is stored on that record. Depending on the flow:
- TalentProof can recalculate Proof Score when internships, projects, or work experience change.
- Supervisor verification can unlock the internship assessment pipeline for that record.
- Institution approval can add the internship to the student’s profile as experience.
- Faculty verification of a college project can mark the project live.
Verification can be withheld or reversed through reject, decline, flag, or expiry — it is not a one-way stamp.
Verification and Proof Score
Proof Score is calculated from scored internships, scored work experience, and assessed projects, plus profile completeness. Supervisor verification of internships and work experience affects how that evidence is used in the score. Faculty verification of college projects can update project scores and trigger a recalculation. Skill assessment verification is a separate status; it is not a documented direct input to Proof Score.
